B.Des Syllabus and Course Structure

The B.Des small-number has been an all-four year undergraduate programme which is structured to give students an balanced blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical experience in several elements of design. Year 1: Foundation Year

B.Des Admission 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility requirements for the admission process for the Bachelor of Design (B.des) programme in 2025. CFD will have eligibility criteria for candidates who have completed or are currently appearing in their Class 12 (10+2) examination from a recognized Board, with minimum 50% marks. Diplomas approved by AICTE or international certifications (e.g., GCE Advanced Level) that are equivalent qualifications are also recognized.

Candidates from Science, Commerce and Arts streams are eligible for most of the B.Des programmes. However, some institutes, including IIT Guwahati and IIT Roorkee, call for academics Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at Class 12 for UCEED-based admission.

Age limits vary across entrance exams and institutions:

  • For UCEED, General category candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2000, while reserved categories have relaxed limits.
  • For NID DAT, General candidates must be born on or after July 1, 2004.

B.Des is similar to students having studied the stream of NID, NIFT entrance test conducted at national level. Most of the top design institutes conduct entrance exams such as NID DAT, UCEED, or NIFT for admissions.
